Itinerary: 3 Days Tour from Marrakech To Merzouga Desert

Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley.

The road takes us through Berber villages where you will get a chance to see the extraordinary earth architecture so typical of the region and then winds upwards through the lush countryside with breathtaking views offered by the High Atlas Mountains.

We then take the old caravan route leading to Ouarzazate to visit the Kasbah Telouet. This extraordinary kasbah was built by the powerful tribal leader el Glaoui, known as the ‘vulture’ sultan.

However, he never lived there and the building was never completed, and although there has been some attempt to restore it, it is now falling into ruin. But you can still admire the magnificent ostentation of its reception rooms and many other very beautiful architectural and decorative features.

After Telouet, you have the choice of continuing to Ait Ben Haddou on the main road or traveling off-road through the Ounila Valley with its wonderful river, verdant valleys, and colorful hillsides.

Our tour continues with a visit to the stunning Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, or in this case Ksar (fortified village). Now a World Heritage site, this is one of the finest and best-preserved examples of earth architecture in Morocco and has served as an appropriate location for many epic films like Lawrence of Arabia and Alexander.

Our night will be in Dades Valley after crossing the road of thousand Kasbah and the Roses Valley to reach up to Boumaln Dades where we will have to spend our night.

Day 2 : Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Camel Trekking - Erfoud - Merzouga.

In the morning, we will drive to Merzouga via the Todra Gorge, the highest oasis valley gorge in Morocco. When you arrive in the small town of Merzouga on the edge of the desert, your guide and camels will be waiting to take you across the impressively high, sandy dunes of the Moroccan Sahara.

Aria’s camel trek lasts about two hours and you literally ride into the sunset – an awe-inspiring experience – before arriving at your camp, set up with traditional Berber tents. While your camels and luggage are being attended to, you will be served mint tea. stay Overnight at Berber Desert Camp with music and the sky full of stars.

Dau 3: Merzouga - Rissani - Tazarine - Ouarzazate - Marrakech

After breakfast with a Berber family, you will take a leisurely camel ride back to the village of Merzouga. The Erg Chebbi dunes are particularly beautiful at this time of day, constantly changing in the play of light as the morning progresses. You arrive back in Merzouga in the late morning, where you can freshen up with a shower at the guesthouse before leaving for Ouarzazat and Marrakech. Our route takes us back over the High Atlas and through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and you will arrive back in Marrakech in the evening.
